Why I’m Launching a Referral Program (and Why You Should Care If Your Website Sucks)
A few weeks ago, I was scrolling through one of my favourite Facebook entrepreneurship groups when a simple question popped up: “Where do you get most of your clients?” My answer was immediate—referrals. That’s been true for at least two years now. But the follow-up question made me pause: “So, do you have a referral program or offer any compensation?”
I didn’t. And while I’ve always appreciated folks who have enthusiastically sent people my way, I never had a formal referral system to say “thank you” in a tangible, business-savvy way. After all, word-of-mouth is the most credible form of marketing, and if I’m relying on it so heavily, shouldn’t I be rewarding the folks who make it happen?
That small exchange lit a fuse in my mind. I realized I was missing a significant opportunity—not just to grow my business, but to invest in the very people who believe in what I do enough to recommend my services. Suddenly, the concept of a referral program clicked. It’s a win-win: you help me reach new clients, I help you with a bit of financial compensation (or other perks), and we all walk away with a stronger community of entrepreneurs. It made me wonder, what other opportunities have we missed?
In a digital world overrun with ads, there’s something special about hearing, “Hey, I know someone who can help,” from a trusted friend or colleague. That kind of recommendation is priceless. For me, referrals have always been an organic way of connecting with the clients I want to work with: motivated business owners who see the value in a strategic, well-designed website. Your referrals are not just a way to bring in new clients, they are a testament to the value we provide.
As someone who’s built a career helping businesses level up their online presence, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard, “My website kinda sucks,” or “I’m embarrassed to send people to our site.” A referral solves a couple of problems at once: it gets me in front of the right folks and lets them quickly address a pain point holding back their brand image.
Introducing Our Referral Program for 2025: I’m thrilled to announce that MBD Studio (my creative hub) has finally launched an official referral program for 2025. This is a game-changer, and I can’t wait to see its impact. If you haven’t seen the press release, you can check it out here. In short, if you send a new client our way and they decide to work with us, you get rewarded. It’s a simple yet powerful way for you to benefit from your network and for us to grow our community.
Why You Should Send Business My Way
Your Website Deserves Better
Let’s face it: the internet is packed with mediocrity. If you’re looking at your company’s website and thinking, “We could do better,” you’re probably right. My team and I don’t just make pretty pages—we dig into the strategy behind your online presence, ensuring every pixel serves a purpose.
Stronger Relationships
Referrals keep us connected to people who care about quality and community. Every new project allows us to collaborate with folks who get it. And the more I work with driven entrepreneurs, the more I learn, grow and deliver better results for everyone.
A Win-Win Compensation Structure
With the new referral program, there’s a tangible thank-you for anyone bringing new business. It’s a two-way street: you get a slice of the pie for your recommendation, and the referred business gets a polished online presence they can be proud of.
Accountability and Trust
People refer me because they trust my work. And trust is a serious motivator. It pushes me to constantly deliver on promises, stay ahead of design trends, and craft experiences that truly resonate with an audience. When your reputation is on the line, you better believe I’m bringing my A-game.
The Bottom Line
I’ve always believed in the power of community and genuine connections to grow a business. Now, I’m excited to back that belief with a program that incentivizes people to send new clients my way and rewards their confidence in what I do. If your website sucks (no judgment—we’ve all been there!), or if you know someone who’s in desperate need of an online facelift, let’s talk. Or better yet, connect them to me and join the referral program.
A great referral perfectly combines your trust, my expertise, and the client’s vision. It’s time to make that collaboration even more rewarding—for everyone involved.
Thanks for reading, and here’s to the next chapter in building businesses that look as good online as they do in person. If you’re interested in learning more about the referral program, visit the MBD Studio site for all the details. Let’s upgrade the web, one excellent referral at a time!
